At San Lameer it would be advisable to bring your ball retriever and wetsuit if you don't want to loose to many balls. The water-laden course is scenic and impala roam freely. But the fish take cover when the wind blows, due to the vast numbers of 'sunk' balls.
Southbroom is short and scenic, but not to be taken for granted. The 4th hole is spectacular. Margate is fairly forgiving off the tee but the short holes are surprisingly tricky - and there are five of them.
Port Shepstone's nines are totally different, the front being inland and woody, while the back nine is flat and exposed to the onshore wind.
Up the road, Umdoni Park, Selborne, Umkomaas and Scottburgh all offer user-friendly facilities and great opportunities to card a career-best.
All are within an hour's drive of Port Shepstone, depending on how hard you press the accelerator.
