ALWAYS USE A LEGAL SITE TO LAUNCH
In terms of the National Environment Management Act (NEMA act 107 of 1998) it is an offense to drive any motorised vehicle in the coastal zone without a permit.
Zone
The coastal zone is defined as the area adjacent to the sea and included beaches, dunes, estuaries and land submerged by the sea or estuary. This means that vehicles may only access the coastal zone for the launching of vessels at recognised launch sites. Launch sites on the lower South Coast are at Hibberdene, Injambali, Umzimkulu, Shelly Beach, Ramsgate, Glenmore and Port Edward.
Area
No vehicles are allowed in the area to the east (sea side) of the main road bridge at the Mzimkhulu river mouth. Being fined and having your vehicle impounded could seriously spoil your holiday. So please stick to the riles and enjoy your fishing and water sports.
